Head of Technical Back Office
As Head of the Technical Back Office, you bear central responsibility for the technical and commercial project preparation in structural and bridge engineering. You lead interdisciplinary teams, establish reliable structures, and ensure that projects are thoroughly prepared from the bidding phase through to execution. In doing so, you combine technical expertise with a broad overview, decisive leadership, and a clear sense for profitability, workflows, and risks. This position is aimed at experienced professionals and managers who coordinate effectively, work methodically, and develop their teams professionally.

Your responsibilities
- Technical management of the back-office department in structural and bridge engineering
- Leadership and coordination of teams covering estimating, work preparation, contract management, and technical controlling
- Analysis and evaluation of tender documents including opportunity and risk assessment
- Coordination of bid preparation, bid review, and award procedures
- Participation in budget planning, cost control, and profitability assessments
- Calculation of in-house and subcontractor services
- Preparation and review of project schedules as well as development of construction sequence, site setup, and logistics concepts
- Central technical point of contact for clients, planners, and internal departments
- Involvement in contract and order negotiations in close coordination with branch or division management
- Further development of methodological approaches, e.g. model-based working (BIM) and lean methods
What you bring
- Completed degree in civil engineering or an equivalent qualification
- Several years of experience in estimating, work preparation, and/or construction execution – ideally in structural or bridge engineering
- Strong knowledge of construction and contract law (in particular VOB)
- Confident use of industry-specific software (e.g. RIB iTWO, MS Project, Powerproject)
- Structured, analytical, and solution-oriented approach to work
- Strong communication skills and a confident manner with diverse project stakeholders
- Leadership experience or the motivation to actively take on responsibility for teams
